Distributed RIP Architecture™
Scales your production line by adding print stations, not bigger servers
Unlike traditional DFEs that rely on a single, increasingly powerful server to drive multiple print stations, SmartRIP uses a distributed architecture where every print station has its own dedicated SmartRIP running on an industrial PC or embedded single-board computer. A central controller or SCADA system distributes the PDF once, then instructs each SmartRIP which page to print using the Page Shooter™ interface. As production capacity grows, simply add another print station with its own SmartRIP. There is no need to replace or redesign a central DFE server, or increase the performance of the existing RIPs. Each SmartRIP only needs enough processing power for its own print station, making low-cost industrial hardware a practical choice. This delivers predictable linear scaling, lower hardware costs, improved fault isolation, and the flexibility to expand production one station at a time.
PageShooter™
Instant Random Access PDF Printing
PageShooter™ transforms static PDF jobs into intelligent, event-driven print workflows. Instead of processing pages sequentially, PageShooter provides instant random access to any page within a PDF, allowing external systems to request and RIP exactly the page required at the precise moment it is needed. Whether triggered by a barcode scanner, magnetic stripe reader, RFID, database lookup, or manufacturing control system, SmartRIP delivers the correct page in real time without searching or pre-processing the entire document. This makes PageShooter ideal for high-speed industrial applications such as card personalisation, mail and fulfilment, product labelling, packaging, and track-and-trace, where every printed item may require a different page from the same PDF.
Integration in hours, not weeks
SmartRIP offers a compact footprint that’s lightweight and easy to embed, making it ideal for OEM integration. Its headless design gives you the freedom to create your own user interface, while rapid integration means Smart Control can be up and running in hours rather than weeks or months. It is cross-platform, supporting both Windows and Linux, and works with most modern programming languages. You can also connect SmartRIP to any OPC UA–enabled application without writing a single line of code. By using SCADA and HMI applications, you can build a powerful, fully featured controller without additional development.
Smart Connectivity
Secure. Open. Industry 4.0 Ready.
SmartRIP is driven by the industry-standard OPC UA interface, delivering secure and interoperable integration at the core. Secure by design, it’s built on trusted industrial communication standards to ensure reliability in connected environments. With rapid UI development, you can create your own user interface within hours using the OPC UA API. Fully Industry 4.0 enabled, SmartRIP seamlessly links to smart manufacturing systems and cloud data services, making integration faster, safer, and future-ready.
Find out moreSmartRIP’s GPU-native design helps you get the most out of your industrial PC. It can share the work between several GPUs by giving each GPU a whole page or by splitting one page into sections so that many GPUs can process it at the same time. This speeds up rendering and makes the best use of the available hardware, which is especially useful if the controller PC is already running other tasks.
Most modern CPUs have a built-in GPU, which gives extra power at no extra cost. For even better performance, you can add a separate graphics card such as an NVIDIA 4060, and some systems can use more than one GPU. By adding a graphics card, you can increase speed, avoid buying another PC, and make the system more efficient.
Bringing specialist print quality to every production line
In today’s printing landscape, achieving consistent high-quality output and precise color reproduction often depends on experienced print operators. However, skilled specialists are becoming increasingly scarce, especially in industries where printing is part of a wider production process and non-specialists are responsible for running presses. SmartRIP addresses this challenge by combining PrintFlat, ScreenPro and ColorLogic technologies into a user friendly and automated system. This enables any operator, regardless of their level of expertise, to achieve excellent print quality with ease and confidence.
